SizzlePak

SizzlePak is a decorative paper filler consisting of coloured paper strips folded into a concertina shape. In addition to its eye-catching appearance, it also absorbs shocks and secures the contents, combining protection with professional presentation. It is available in multiple colour variants and is particularly suitable as a decorative filler for gift packaging, such as cosmetics.

What SizzlePak is suitable for

  • Decorative fill for gift packaging – fills the box attractively and enhances the presentation of the product
  • Fixing and shock absorption – besides looking good, it protects the contents in transit
  • More colour options – match the fill to your company colours or theme
  • Ideal for cosmetics and premium goods – where the unboxing experience matters

What SizzlePak is made of

The strips are about 3 mm wide and consist of three plies of paper, usually with a grammage of 80 g/m². Some colours, such as silver and gold, tend to be made from heavier paper. Folding into a concertina gives the paper resilience, so the strips absorb shocks and spring back after compression.

The material is pure paper. According to sellers‘ data, most colours contain roughly 80–85 % recycled fibres. Light shades are made from wood-free paper so that they do not yellow over time. The fill is virtually dust-free and does not build up static charge.

SizzlePak is sold in cartons of 10 kg as well as in smaller packs. It is packed tightly in the carton and, once tipped out and loosened, expands to roughly three times its volume. According to sellers, 1 kg produces approximately 20–35 litres of fill. We offer it in several colour variants, including black and yellow.

How to use SizzlePak

  • Loosen the fill before use so that it regains its volume.
  • Spread a layer of fill on the bottom of the box and place the product in it as if in a nest.
  • Fill the sides and the space above the product so that it does not move once the box is closed.
  • Separate several items in one pack with fill so that they do not touch.
  • Wrap fragile items first; SizzlePak then holds the wrapped item in place.
  • Adjust the amount so that the lid closes without pressing on the product.

After unpacking, SizzlePak can be reused as long as it remains dry and clean.

When SizzlePak is suitable

  • Gift and presentation packs, where the fill remains visible once opened.
  • Cosmetics and small premium goods, where the unboxing experience matters.
  • Sets of several products in one box that need to be kept apart.
  • Gift hampers, where the fill levels the base and fills the gaps between products.
  • Manual packing of smaller runs, where the fill is taken straight from the carton and no machine is needed.
  • Colour matching of the packaging with corporate colours or the product theme.

For light and medium-weight goods, SizzlePak provides support and absorbs shocks during transport. Heavy and very fragile items need a firmer insert. Large shipping boxes are filled with void fill designed for dispatch.

Points to watch

  • Empty space in sales packaging – Under Regulation (EU) 2025/40, whoever fills sales packaging must, from 12 February 2028 at the latest, reduce empty space to the minimum needed for the packaging to function, including product protection. Space filled with paper strips counts as empty space. The fill should therefore not disguise an unnecessarily large box. For cosmetics, the European Commission will assess by February 2032 whether to set a fixed empty space ratio for sales packaging as well.
  • Moisture – Wet paper loses strength and cushioning. For damp goods and light-coloured textiles, test whether the coloured paper transfers dye.
  • Food – If the fill is to come into contact with unpackaged food, ask for documentation confirming that the specific colour is suitable for food contact.
  • Too little fill – If the product moves when the box is shaken, add fill or press it down lightly.
  • Small items – Small pieces, such as samples or jewellery, are easily lost among the strips. Place them in a bag or their own small box.

SizzlePak or another void fill

Crumpled paper is a paper void fill for dispatch. A machine prepares it right at the packing table, and it is also suitable for large boxes. Loose fill is poured in freely, but plastic loose fill may not be placed on the market from 12 February 2029. SizzlePak is intended mainly for sales and gift packaging, where appearance also matters. It is usually combined with gift boxes. For transport, the gift pack is placed in a cardboard shipping box with void fill, for example air cushions.

Frequently asked questions

How much SizzlePak will I use?

Start from the volume of the empty space. A 300 × 200 × 100 mm box has a volume of 6 litres. If the product takes up 2 litres, 4 litres remain, i.e. about 0.1–0.2 kg of fill. A 10 kg pack is therefore enough for about 50–90 such boxes.

Which colours are available?

SizzlePak is made in approximately twenty colours, from white, natural and black to silver and gold. We will confirm in our quotation which colours we can supply for you.

Can the colour be matched to corporate colours?

The colour is chosen from the range in production. State the required shade in your enquiry, ideally with a colour reference number, and we will confirm the closest available colour in our quotation.

How should SizzlePak be stored?

In a dry place, ideally in the original carton. The tightly packed fill takes up roughly a third of the volume it reaches when loosened, so the stock does not need much space.

Does SizzlePak also protect goods during transport?

The springy strips absorb shocks and hold the product in place, which is why sellers also list it as a protective fill. However, a gift pack usually travels inside a shipping box. Heavy and very fragile items need a firmer insert.

Where does used SizzlePak go?

It is made entirely of paper, so it goes into paper recycling. Together with a paper box it forms single-material packaging from which the recipient does not need to separate anything. If dry and clean, it can be reused.
